Email List-Serve Migration to Google Groups - Last Call

This is a final reminder regarding the Winnona Park Neighborhood Association’s (WPNA) migration to Google Groups from Yahoo Groups. 

We continue to offer a moderated and an unmoderated group in Google.

These groups are private rather than public. 

As private groups, created for the benefit of former Yahoo group members, current Winnona Park and City of Decatur residents with allowances for exceptions where appropriate, we ask those requesting membership to provide the verification information to include: name, address, email, phone and at times additional relevant information to assist us in our ability to verify and approve your request.

Without this information we are unable to fully process and approve your request.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE A GOOGLE ACCOUNT OR WANT TO CREATE A DIFFERENT GOOGLE ACCOUNT TO JOIN - Then as with Yahoo groups, you'll need to create a Google account.

There are (2) options:

1. Create Google account by creating a new @comemail address
2. Create Google Account using a non-Gmail email address (use one of your existing email addresses that does not end in @gmail.com)

 

Create Google account by creating a new @gmail.com email address

1. Go to the Google account Sign In page.
2. Click Create account.
3. Enter your name.
4. In the "Username" field, enter a username.
5. Enter and confirm your password.
6. Click Next.
7. Optional: Add and verify a phone number for your account.
8. Click Next
9. Once you have created your account:
1. Sign into your account
2. Follow link(s) to join the groups you'd like to join:
   UNMODERATED: https://groups.google.com/g/winnonapark
   or
   MODERATED: https://groups.google.com/g/wpna_neighborhoodnews
3. Click on "Ask to Join"

Email List-Serve Migration to Google Groups

As most of you are aware, Yahoo Groups has shut down and the Winnona Park Neighborhood Association (WPNA) has migrated to Google Groups.

The WPNA continues to offer a moderated and an unmoderated group in Google.  Further, as with our Yahoo groups, we continue to limit membership to these groups. 

These groups are not public groups.  They are private groups created and managed by the WPNA for the benefit of current Winnona Park and City of Decatur residents with allowances for exceptions where appropriate.  We therefore ask those requesting membership to either group to provide their name, address, email, phone and at times additional relevant information to assist us in our ability to verify and approve your request. 

Based on a variety of factors, to include feedback we have received during the migration process from Yahoo to Google, the WPNA has revised the membership guidelines for our UNMODERATED group.  These revisions in part include:

• Residency requirements are expanded from only Winnona Park residents to the broader group of City of Decatur residents with exceptions considered as needed (i.e. a teacher in COD who lives outside of COD)
• Requesting members that can be confirmed as previous members of the Yahoo unmoderated group will be “grandfathered” in as members of the unmoderated google group through Jan 31, 2021. Verification information is still requested and required.
