WPNA Committees

Part of what makes Winnona Park great is active involvement by individuals in our neighborhood association committees.

Communications Committee: The group keeps the neighborhood informed via online newsletters, signs, posters, and through this web site.  They also manage a Yahoo! newsgroup wpna_neighborhoodnews, which delivers email notices and keeps information exchange current and convenient.  The moderated group posts WPNA news, announcements, and allows neighbors a place to swap information about everything from babysitters to Braves tickets, local crime alerts to lost cats.  The committee utilizes its volunteers to gather news and write stories for the newsletter and web site.  Topics include feature stories about interesting neighbors, writing committee news and reporting on city or community meetings.  The committee is always in need of volunteers for newsletter work, including writing, editing, advertising sales and production.  Contact the Communications Committee Chair.

Neighborhood Environment and Infrastructure Committee: Quality of life issues are the main concerns of this committee. Questions about pedestrian and cyclist safety, landscaping, beautification, sidewalks, streets, and traffic may be addressed by this group.  Contact the Environment and Infrastructure Committee Chair.

Membership Committee: TBA  Contact the Membership Committee Chair.

Social Committee: This group plans social events that encourage neighbors to gather, meet and mingle, The Fourth of July parade-decorating party, the fall picnic, a Halloween costume contest, dinner club and holiday luminaria night are all events coordinated by this committee.  Contact the Social Committee Chair.

Development and Zoning Committee: This committee has been active in monitoring potential development and zoning changes in and around Winnona Park. Several years ago it successfully listed Winnona Park on the National Register of Historic Places.   Contact the Development and Zoning Committee Chair.

Committee meetings are usually announced via our neighborhood newsgroup e-mail list and by signs posted throughout the neighborhood.
